If it seems like all you're doing is cooking, cooking, cooking...you can take a break from cooking for snacks. I have sugar snap peas and hummus for morning and/or afternoon snacks some days. Since I said you can substitute ANY protein, lets don't rule out nuts but don't skip the greens. Every element of this eating plan is essential.
I heard from my friend Chris that a family member is interested in trying the Michael Thurmond diet. But she doesn't like vegies and she does like her 'starches' which I took to mean bread and pasta. So I'll just put this out there: she should probably try to find a bread and pasta diet instead.
If you want results, you can't half-ass this thing. This morning I didn't pop out of bed and start cooking a steak for breakfast because I was obligated to paint Chris's bathroom. I cut up an apple and put 2 oz of crunchy peanut butter in a bowl and ate it on the way to work. After I finished painting the bathroom Chris took me out for sushi. We agreed it wasn't great sushi. Too much rice which stuck to the paper tray it was served on. We are spoiled. But I'm probably not going to lose any weight today, I haven't had enough protein.
That Columbia top I mentioned? The one I couldn't even button up 2 weeks ago?
I'm behind on my water and I've got to go cook some steak...
I never get tired of my new skinny creamed spinach recipe. Had it for afternnon snack and dinner with steak.

Yummy. Where are you finding that steak? I probably wouldn't mind eating it if that's what I could find.
ReplyDeleteYour Columbia top looks great and it's a great inspiration for me to keep going and make MT work for me (again).
I hadn't previously read through your earlier posts where you explained in more detail about veggie and protein substitutions. That will be so much more doable for me. I far prefer fish and fowl to red meats. And now I don't feel like I'm setting myself back by eating tomatoes, squash, and green beans rather than leafy greens.
Today I'm going to plant my fall lettuces, kale, beets and spinach. That should give me some leafy green variety in a month or so.
Ok. Here is my bad "cheat" confession. Please help me with this. Don't empower me to continue failing if this is a major Mark Thurman fail.
Two words. Red wine.
Through some perhaps fantastical mental contortions, I have justified my daily glass of red wine as the fruit serving of my afternoon snack. If I have my lean protein at 3 p.m then the "fruit" part in the form of 5 oz of red wine as I cook dinner, that's ok. Right? Or major fail?
