This afternoon I wanted to check in with a friend who is doing this project with me. She's been my best friend since 2000 and I can count on her.
When I asked how are you doing, how much weight have you lost? She responded 6/10 of a pound. That was a shocker. I asked why? Because she's done this with me before and she was very happy she was so successful.
It turns out that having a half gallon of whipping cream handy for creamed spinach isn't a good thing. I made creamed chard at lunch today with my steak. I used 2 Tablespoons of flax milk and a heaping Tablespoon of Creme Fraiche. Put those in the pan with freshly grated nutmeg and cracked pepper and stir over medium heat until the creme fraiche is melted and cooked down just a little then put your chopped greens in the pan and stir until they have wilted. My greens weren't thickly coated white like creamed spinach usually is, but the flavor is there.
When I quit Michael Thurmond in a huff after losing 64 lbs and eventually put it all (every pound) back on again, I tried to start MT again. It didn't work. I think I tried twice, same results.
Hitting 206 again really did a number on me and for weeks I would stew about it. I wondered what I had done wrong because there isn't anything wrong with the diet, it's guaranteed to work. It was creeping up on me that I wasn't in the same shape as last time when everything worked perfectly. The first time I did body diagraming I was a more compact 206. I was Type 2-B. Now I'm 10 years older and this weight isn't as cute. I'm type 4-D, there's only 1 type with a fatter profile.
And I'm OK with that, just because I know it's already working. I've lost 12 lbs. in 13 days. If I keep this up I'll have another day where I lose 2 lbs and I'll be matching! 14 lbs in 14 days or 15 lbs in 15 days, it'll happen. I've done this before and I WILL do it again.
I mentioned to my bud that my kitchen counter is full of chocolate-even skinny chocolate and Costco chocolate chip cookies (for Rhett) and it's not bothering me a bit because I don't see them. I've consciously turned off that part of my brain.
What I didn't tell her is that I had a dream I was having a bite of chocolate cheesecake last night. Dreams are non-fattening. As long as you don't take it as a sign and drag the cheesecake out of the freezer as soon as you wake up!
Yep, I have a whole cheesecake in my freezer. Doesn't bother me a bit because I know it's stay'n in there.
It's a Lot of work making all this food all day and drinking over 100 oz of water. I know I said you have to drink half your body weight in ounces every day, but that's the minimum. I kept drinking 100 oz of water every day, even after losing 64 lbs.
This time my goal weight is lower because I know I can shoot for size 6. My Mom and my sister are both size 6. A big part of me just wants to 'fit in'.
The picture of me after wrecking my car taken by a bystander wasn't much of a surprise. I've been keeping track. I look at myself in store windows sometimes, not with a smile on my face though.
The top I'm wearing today is already starting to hang on me. I bought a really nice Columbia shirt a few weeks ago in size 1X but it was tight, I couldn't wear it. All my other 1Xs fit fine, this one just runs small. I'm going to put it on again tomorrow and I'm betting it's not going to be tight.
I was heading for anything that would stop me when my brakes went out less than 3 weeks after getting a complete brake job.Yep. That's a Type D alright.

There are several other perishables I didn't mention, that I wanted to use up as "cheats" within the diet.
ReplyDeleteI've spent the bulk of the pandemic shutdown working in my garden. This is my first real garden I've grown since my children were little (we're talking 30+ years), and this is my first full growing season since I retired.
Suffice it to say, I am now being blessed with just enough homegrown organic veggies to feed me daily. I have red potatoes, sweet corn, zucchini, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, green beans and cucumbers. I've worked so hard to get here (and lost 10 lbs doing that)!
So my "cheats" are substituting corn or baby red potatoes for brown rice, cucumbers and tomatoes, or green beans for "greens".
Northern Nevada growing season virtually ends September 30, and my veggies are already slowing down. Soon I will buy Costco super greens and stick to the plan as it was intended.
I need to go out to the storage shed now, and look for my rice cooker.
Tomorrow I will confess to my worst cheat. Maybe. I'm going to need help with that one.
